PMR Catalogue of USSR Overprints
The "Suvorov" Group
Definitive and
commemorative stamps of the
former USSR variously overprinted and
surcharged.
Introductory Note:
These Stamps are BOGUS.
These stamps were privately
produced for speculative and/or propaganda
purposes and without the knowledge or
permission of the PMR authorities. They appeared in the
post-civil war period in 1992/1993.
Seemingly legitimate covers exist bearing
these stamps, but these are also bogus.
These stamps are included
here as an information services to
collectors only.
General Suvorov was the
Russian conqueror of the region and the
founder of the city of Tiraspol. These
stamps feature the famous icon representing
the Suvorov monument in Tiraspol.
The catalogue prefix is "SV",
for Suvorov. I fully accept the possibility that
there may be other types and varieties of
these stamps that I have failed to include. If you know of any other
material of this type, please send me scans
and details by eMail to
info@pmrstamps.com
